Packing List for Ramble at Mesa Verde National Park

Ramble at Mesa Verde is located in a high desert climate characterized by warm summers, cool evenings, and relatively mild winters. During the summer months, temperatures can soar during the day, up to 90 degrees, but drop significantly at night in the 40s, making layers essential for comfort. When packing for your camping trip, consider what kinds of activities you plan to enjoy along with the variable climate to make sure you’re comfortable at camp. And don’t worry. If you happen to forget any items at home, Ramble has a camp store on site that offers a variety of provisions including freeze dried food, toiletries and merchandise. 

Shelter and Sleeping:

1. Tent
2. Sleeping bags rated for cooler temperatures
3. Sleeping pads or air mattresses for insulation from the ground
4. Pillows and extra blankets for added warmth
5. Tent footprint or ground tarp for protection against moisture

Cooking and Food Prep:

1. Lighter or waterproof matches ( Ramble provides a grill lighter at the campsite) 
2. Cooking utensils (pots, pans, spatula, etc.)
3. Cooler with ice packs
4. Food storage containers and sealable bags
5. Non-perishable food items and snacks
6. Fresh food such as fruits, vegetables, and meats
7. Drinking water or water filtration system (Ramble as has potable water at campsite sinks and a spigot near the bath house for refills) 

Clothing and Personal Items:

1. Weather-appropriate clothing (lightweight and breathable for daytime, warmer layers for evenings)
2. Sturdy hiking boots or shoes
3. Rain gear (jacket and pants)
4. Hat with a brim for sun protection
5. Sunglasses
6. Swimsuit for any water activities ( Ramble has an onsite splash pad) 
7. Quick-dry towels
8. Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, biodegradable soap, etc.)
9. Sunscreen and insect repellent
10. First aid kit with essentials like bandages, antiseptic wipes, and pain relievers

Camping Gear:

1. Lanterns or headlamps with extra batteries
